Applicants for the position of 911 "Basic Telecommunicator" require a high school
diploma or GED. Experience in Public Safety dispatching preferred,
but not required. KY Public Safety Basic Telecommunicator certification
a plus.
All applicants will take a computer based pre-employment test. You must
also comply with requirements of (TPS) -
Telecommunicator Professional Standards Act of KY (KRS 15.530 栊 15.590) requires a criminal history
check, suitability screening, polygraph examination, finger
printing, and drug screening.
Full-time employees must attend and successfully complete the Kentucky Telecommunications
academy in Richmond Kentucky for a total of (205) hours (5 weeks.) Part-time
employees with no experience must attend the Academy in Richmond, Kentucky. Those with experience will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
All employees with no experience must successfully complete an in-house training program
for (11) weeks. Those with experience will be reviewed on a case by case basis and training levels determined by experience. Even with experience you must successfully complete the in-house training program that is assigned to you. |
